Scope:
We were the General Contractor for the basement and 1st floor renovation of this building in 2010 and in 2019 we performed the General Trades Package for the 3rd and 4th floor renovation. The interior renovations included removal of a structural concrete slab to create a 2 story atrium at the new grand staircase. Our scope included selective demolition, structural steel, fireproofing, drywall, and finishes including reclaimed wood accent walls using donated material. The exterior renovation included new structural framing and masonry at window openings.
The IHSC is the educational branch of the Drs. Nicholas and Dorothy Cummings Center for the History of Psychology located on The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.
The mission of the IHSC is to explore the human condition through document- and object-based, experiential education in arts, humanities, and science.
The IHSC is committed to designing and offering courses, workshops, and other innovative and engaging, formal and informal programming around IHSC collections. Programming includes experimental space and mentorship for students, exhibitions, for-credit courses, and community workshops that support the mission of the Institute.
